It is often seen that the person,
who gets a call for an interview becomes so excited that he forgets to ask some
important questions about the interview from the caller. Asking essential questions
before going for the interview can help you in winning the job. Following are some
of the important questions that should be asked when you get a call for the
interview.
The timings at which you are available for the interview
In many cases, it has been observed
that the person, who calls you to inform about the interview, asks you what
timing will suit you for the interview. In that case, you should ask the
caller, to conduct the interview around 10 am. Early in the morning timings
like 9 am, or a bit late like 12 am, and after 4:30 pm are not suitable for the
interview. Around 9 am, the interviewer may not be fresh in order to focus on
you properly or he might forget you after the interview because of the odd
timings of the interview. Around 12 am, the interviewer might think more about
lunch rather than listening to you and after 4:30 pm, the interviewer’s
attention might be towards going home. Therefore, the appropriate time for the
interview is around 10 am.
Can You Tell Me the Name of the Interviewer?
It is important to ask the name
and job title of the person, who will take your interview. After asking his name,
it is better to research about the interviewer through different information
sources like friends, siblings etc who work in different linked organizations. You
both might have some common connections like same universities or hobbies etc.
Is This A Newly Created Vacancy
It is very important to ask whether
the post is newly created or someone was working on this position before. If
the post is newly created then the employer might need your help to define the
job role for it. However, if this position was held by someone, then you should
talk to someone, who is working on the same post but in some other organization.
Ask him about the job description. Search about the person, who was working at
that post before. If you can approach him, then ask the reason why he left the
job or why he was fired.
Should I Bring Anything Else Along With the Resume?
It will be a somewhat critical
situation for you, if your interviewer asks about your credentials during the
interview if you did not bring them as proof. Therefore, you should ask the
caller whether you have to bring something along with your resume or not. Most
of the time, the person will say no, but if he asks you to bring your documents,
you should definitely take them with you. Because, you might not see this
requirement in the job ad, this will demonstrate your skills and talent as you
might be the only candidate to show motivation in this regard.
